IT WAS mission accomplished for Blair Campbell in his first season as the Guernsey Rugby Club first XV captain.

The New Zealander had long since proved his ability as an excellent fly half, but in the 2010-11 London Two South-West campaign he showed himself to be a fine leader too.

When he undertook the job, he made his aim clear and that was to take a step up on the national league ladder.

Eight months later, Campbell had lifted the league title and Guernsey had secured that promotion.

Coach Jordan Reynolds is under no illusions as to the influential part Campbell played in the team's success.
