Yet another short straw

HEATHER WATSON will have to do it the hard way again if she is to progress in her debut Australian Open, which she will begin on Monday.

The 19-year-old Sarnian, pictured right, has been drawn against world number three Victoria Azarenka in the first round of the first Grand Slam tournament of the year.

Azarenka, left, reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon in 2011 and the quarter-finals at the French Open.

It is the second Grand Slam running where Watson has drawn the number three seed, after succumbing to multiple Slam winner Maria Sharapova in last year's US Open.
