ON A chilly January afternoon at Footes Lane, Guernsey's backs proved too hot to handle for Sidcup on Saturday.

As they have done over and over again of late, the home pack put in another hard shift at the coalface, but this time it was those behind them who stole the show.

A cynic might suggest that the backs were out to impress the noisy contingent of females attracted to the Garenne Stand by the Guernsey Rugby Club's own Ladies' Day, but if that's what it takes to bring the best of out them, perhaps the club should consider a Ladies' Season.

The chief orchestrator was captain Blair Campbell, whose deft hands and sublime passing belied the bitterly cold conditions.
