Bahrain first up for Guernsey

GUERNSEY will open their Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division Five campaign against familiar foe.

Bahrain, who won the 2009 WCL7 tournament here when they beat Guernsey in the final and then gained a second successive promotion later that year having finished in the top two in Division Six that year when Guernsey came third, will be the Sarnians' first opponents in Singapore next month.

Guernsey coach Andy Cornford is pleased with how the fixtures have turned out.

'We have played against them before so we know what to expect and we are looking forward to trying to turn things around on Bahrain,' he said of a side who have beaten Guernsey the three times they have met in ICC competition.

That match will be played at the Singapore Cricket Club.
