HEATHER WATSON'S maiden Australian Open may have come to an abrupt end, but it could well be that conqueror Victoria Azarenka turns out to be the sport's biggest star.

The sheer brilliance of the 22-year-old Belarussian gave Guernsey girl Watson no chance in Melbourne, the first round contest finishing 6-1, 6-0 in double-quick time.

After losing 12 straight games against the world number three, Watson, whose new ranking is 105, was quick to join Azarenka's ever-growing fan club.
