HEATHER WATSON has been continuing her superb Fed Cup career to move Great Britain a massive step closer to qualification in Eilat, Israel.

With the crucial second group stage tie against the Netherlands in Europe/Africa Group One tied at 1-1, the 19-year-old Sarnian partnered fellow teenager Laura Robson in the deciding doubles rubber.

Up against Dutch pair Kiki Bertens and Bibiane Schoofs, the youngsters were in a tough battle throughout, but still came through in straight sets, 7-5, 7-6.

With Elena Baltacha's earlier singles victory having cancelled out Anne Keothavong's defeat, it meant GB, now under new management in Judy Murray, had claimed their biggest ranking scalp for six years.
