IT WAS the perfect start, literally.

IT WAS the perfect start, literally.

From the first ball of the tournament on Saturday, Guernsey were on top against Bahrain as they banished any thoughts of a jinx against the side they had lost to on all three previous meetings in emphatic fashion at Singapore Cricket Club.

Jamie Nussbaumer, now the senior seamer in the Sarnian squad, struck with his opening delivery, a rising short ball that Shahzad Ahmed gloved behind to wicketkeeper Tom Kimber.

It took an age for the umpire to raise his finger, despite the obvious nature of the dismissal, but eventually the Bahrain opener was sent on his way and Guernsey did not look back.
