Island side beat champions but just miss promotion

THE Sportingbet Guernsey table tennis team have just missed out on promotion to the Premier Division of the British League.

Requiring a second-place finish to make the play-offs the team of Garry Dodd, Alice Loveridge, Phil Ogier and Olly Langlois went agonisingly close.

The difference between finishing second and third was ultimately decided by the outcome of a few five-set matches.

The Guernsey 1sts had opened their final round of Division 1 South-West-North matches with a comprehensive 7-1 victory over TTC Cornwall.
