A SUPERB attacking performance saw Vale Rec's under-16s crush rivals St Martin's to lift the Normandie Cup in style at the Track.

The respective league positions of the two sides suggested that Rec were big favourites and so it proved, as their pace and movement constantly gave them men over on the counter-attack.

Credit to Saints, because they gave as good as they had and were still in it at the half-time break, but they could not cope, in particular, with the trio of Luc Mansell, Harry Smith and captain Chris Phillips.

Phillips was unquestionably the star man as he delivered a stunning performance up front, as he time and again ripped through the opposition backline, at the heart of everything his side produced in the first 40 minutes.
