DEFENDING champions Lions A have successfully retained their Doric Insurance League Division One table tennis title with three games to spare.
The team, consisting of Phil Ogier, Paul Hainsworth and Liam Robilliard, have produced consistently solid performances all season, being defeated just once by second-placed side Whistlers B.
The 6-4 defeat came when the Lions' were missing Robilliard, one of only three occasions this season where the full team was not present.
Another point was dropped to Panthers A when Ogier was absent and this shows the importance of having a full team available for most of the season.
This trait has evidently paid dividends for the champions, who are currently seven points ahead of their nearest rivals ahead of the final fixtures.
