A LATE Rhys Jordan winner sent Sylvans through to the Guernsey FA Cup final last night after edging out Vale Rec in an intriguing contest at Northfield.

The 17-year-old has been making headlines in recent weeks since his return to the island and he created another with just four minutes remaining and extra-time looming, having only been on the pitch for a matter of minutes as a substitute.

His left-footed curling 20-yard effort looked to have found a match in Tom Pattimore, but the teenage Rec goalkeeper could only look on in horror as the ball dropped inside his far post off his hands, rather than around it.

It was unfortunate for a Rec side who had initially taken the first-half lead, although on the overall balance of play, Sylvans were the deserved winners after dominating possession and creating enough chances to eventually carry them through.
