Watson through opener

HEATHER WATSON is through to the second round of the $25,000 ITF Clearwater Women's Open in Florida.

The Guernsey girl, who is the fifth seed, defeated Russian qualifier Olga Puchkova 6-4, 6-4 yesterday.

Watson will now face either Alize Lim or Suzanna Grigoryan in the second round.
