Watson falls in quarters

HEATHER WATSON'S run in the Clearwater Women's Open was halted at the quarter-finals stage over the weekend.

The Guernsey girl beat qualifier Alize Lim in the second round 6-2, 6-3 to progress into the last eight, but was beaten convincingly by China's Shuai Zhang 6-2, 6-1.

Zhang had already knocked out Watson's Great Britain teammate Laura Robson in the previous round.
