GUERNSEY'S World Championships promotion hopes have all but disappeared in Dortmund.

The island men's team suffered heartbreak in their quarter final match with Jamaica going down by the narrowest of margins.

They had earlier secured a quarter-final berth by overcoming Kyrgyzstan 3-1 in the last 16 clash at Division Five level. Garry Dodd, pictured, remained unbeaten as he recorded 3-1 and 3-0 wins over the top two Kyrgyzstanis.

But Scott Romeril has struggled to find his best form and went down in straight games to the number three, and it needed Olly Langlois to despatch the number one via a quality 3-2 win to ensure success.
