GUERNSEY JUNIORS registered an impressive win to knock the defending champions out of the Hampshire Green Jackets competition yesterday morning.

The Royal Jersey juniors had beaten the GJGC on their way to the title last year, but the Sarnians gained some revenge this time around at L'Ancresse thanks to wins from James Hamon and captain Luke Blondel in the three-man team matchplay format played off scratch.

In the first match out, Jeremy Nicolle came up against an in-form Jersey junior champion Steven Anderson and the RJGC claimed the first point 4 and 3.

However, at the back of the field, Blondel had already established a healthy lead against Ryan Evans on his way to matching that 4 and 3 victory, leaving middle man Hamon to clinch the match as he beat Adam Trotter 3 and 2.

'It is always nice to beat a Jersey team,' said GJGC president Jeff Davies.

The Guernsey Juniors will now play either La Moye or St Clement's.
