Merriens keep up the habit

THE team matches were lost, but Guernsey bowlers had the satisfaction of dominating the Channel Islands indoor championships at Grainville.

The Sarnians took five of the eight CI titles available and nobody impressed more than the Merriens, Ian and Alison.

Continuing the good form they showed in the recent World Cup event in Warilla, New South Wales, they ran away with the mixed pairs title, defeating Jersey's C. Le Sueur and A. Stewart 27-6.

They then added the open pairs title playing against Malcolm de Sousa and junior Ben Le Feuvre, playing in his first major final.
