GARRY DODD is just four winning sets from a fifth straight island men's singles title.
The Channel Islands No. 1 dropped just one set in making next Saturday's finals where he will play the 2007 champion Scott Romeril, who perhaps benefited from the absence of second seed Olly Langlois, who is unwell, still had to dig deep at the GTTA Centre on Saturday night to get through.
Young Sam King was two sets to one up on Romeril in the very first round, but the island player hit back to win in six, while in the quarter-finals Jez Powell was 3-2 up in sets, before Romeril recovered.
Romeril found it much easier in the semis where Paul Hainsworth was unable to bring his A-game to the table and lost in four.
