PETER BLAMPIED arrived at L'Ancresse for the big annual open foursomes golf event never having played the format.
Friend and playing partner Alan Collenette had to explain the theory behind foursomes, but the L'Ancresse member caught on quickly enough and four hours later was sitting on a winning score.
From a 9am start time Blampied and fellow L'Ancresse man Collenette posted a fine 39 Stableford points in particularly tricky conditions.
It was then a question of sitting and waiting, watching the weather and, in particular, the wind which was to play havoc with many a round in this popular spring event.
