GUERNSEY'S Ben Creasey has won a brilliant silver medal at the ETU European Triathlon Championships in Israel.
Creasey, who qualified to represent Great Britain for the 20-24 age group at the Bala triathlon last September, beat stiff competition, losing out only to Maltese duathlon champion Keith Galea by five minutes.
The Olympic-distance race covered a 1500m swim followed by a 40km bike ride and 10km run.
It was based in the resort town of Eilat on the northern tip of the Red Sea and it was the first time that the venue had hosted the European Championships and, as anticipated, conditions were hot, dry and windy.
'It was a tough course,' said the Guernsey Triathlon Club member.
