A FINE all-round display from captain Jamie Nussbaumer ensured that Cobo got off to a winning start in their quest for this year's JT GCA Championship title on Saturday.

They overcame a spirited Elizabeth College side who were disciplined with the ball, but were always playing catch-up with the bat in their target of 189 on a slow College Field wicket.

College eventually fell 28 runs short and nine wickets down after their allotted 50 overs, with Matt Renouf, Nussbaumer and spinner Gary Rich picking up two wickets apiece for Cobo.

Nussbaumer's figures of two for 22 from 10 overs were particularly impressive, adding to his quick-fire 51 in the first innings, coming in at seven and getting that half-century off 59 balls.

It was comfortably the quickest innings of the match and gave Cobo's innings some vital impetus, pushing them up to a score that Nussbaumer himself had been fairly content with.
