HIS nerveless holing out saw Garry McFarlane claim a second island golf crown yesterday in the glorious L'Ancresse sunshine.
In what proved to be a cracking match against three-time winner Nigel Vaudin, who was playing in the final exactly 30 years after his first, McFarlane edged home by the slenderest one up margin thanks to his red-hot putter after both players had produced some outstanding golf.
Afterwards, the champion emphasised where he felt he had won the game.
'Six-foot putts - I think I missed just two all day and I never felt like missing them,' he said.
He also holed some crucial ones from much further out, too, none more so than his last stroke of the morning round.
