ARGYLLS are a single win away from retaining the JT GCA Championship after edging out Cobo in a thrilling finish at the KGV.
Having been set 174 from a reduced 45 overs for victory, the reigning champions won it with two wickets in hand, captain Tom Kimber and young Max Ellis holding their nerve to see their side home.
Kimber finished on 24 not out, which was the key innings after openers GH Smit and Glenn Le Tissier had scored 48 and 42 respectively.
Smit's knock lasted just 37 balls, as he plundered eight fours and a six, the openers scoring a massive 91 for no loss from the first 10 overs.
