Rising Star and a Tiger

GUERNSEY'S Luke Jones has been invited to join the Leicester Tigers Academy for the 2012-13 season.

The 18-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable year having represented Hampshire, the London South-East Division and England U18 Clubs & Schools as well as playing an important part in Guernsey's London One South title-winning campaign.

The news was announced at a special reception hosted by the Guernsey Sports Commission, who named Jones as their latest Rising Star, the scheme which aims to give the island's best sportsmen and women funding and other support to achieve their potential.

Jones, a Leicester Tigers supporter, was unaware of the invitation to join the academy before last night's announcement.
