EXACTLY a week after her 16th birthday, Aimee Ponte collected her third island title.
As expected, second seed Jan Chamberlain gave the teenager her toughest examination of the Intertrust Women's Island Championship at L'Ancresse, but it was one she passed confidently with a 5 and 3 victory.
Already the dominant force in Guernsey female golf, Ponte is only a few days into a packed three-week schedule that will culminate in her defending her Channel Islands crown at her home course for the first time.
For now, however, she is in the UK, playing a 36-hole tournament before watching some Curtis Cup action and then there is the little matter of representing Hampshire in county week, 'which will be amazing' said this impressive young lady.
Her performance on Friday suggests she will be heading there in top form.
