Rovers back on track

ROVERS got back to winning ways in Lancaster Trustees Evening League One last night as the rain stayed off long enough for a match to be completed at Port Soif.

In the end it was a relatively comfortable victory, but Griffins were left wondering what might have been had they made a better start to their reply as David Hooper remarkably got them within 25 of their target with a terrific knock.

However, the island player had come to the crease after his side had been reduced to five for two chasing 165 with openers Damian Wallen and Jim Cobb both removed for ducks within the first couple of overs.

Much of the next eight overs was about consolidation against the spinners, Richard Sinkinson making a run-a-ball 19 at No. 3, before Hooper and Jordon Martel took up the task.
