Wheeler takes early two shot lead with a nett 66

ROSS WHEELER shot the best round of the opening day to take an early lead in the UV Trophy.

The six-handicap from L'Ancresse carded a nett 66 yesterday to lead the island's only 72-hole competition by two shots after round one.

Wheeler got off to a flier as he opened with consecutive birdies on the first two holes, although a bogey at the third was followed by a triple at the next.

In the Credit Suisse Trophy off scratch, there is a familiar name at the top of the leader board as multiple winner Bobby Eggo leads by one.
