LA GRANDE MARE are Guernsey club team champions for the second time after a 5-2 home win over the Guernsey Juniors yesterday.

Chris Walker's men now face an away day in Jersey for the CI final where a place in the Hampshire Sevens finals weekend awaits the winners.

It is 12 years since La Grande Mare travelled to La Moye and went down 4-3 with George Melhuish losing the decisive match on the 19th hole.

Another nail-biter seemed in prospect for much of yesterday's local final, but from a 2-2 scoreline the tie slipped away from the visitors in no time at all and victory was already assured when the match ended with Jeremy Nicolle conceding on the 18th with his second shot in the ditch.
