Watson through at Wimbledon

HEATHER WATSON is through to the third round of the women's singles at Wimbledon.

The Guernsey star beat Jamie Lee Hampton 6-1, 6-4 in their second-round match on Court Two this afternoon to become the first British woman into round three in 10 years.

Watson got off to a flyer, winning the first five games and clinching the first set in just 28min.

The second set was much tighter, with several breaks of serve, but eventually Watson converted her third match point.
