DON'T say the words third time lucky to Guernsey's Matt Le Ber.

Appearing in his third British Isles men's singles final in four years, he was denied yet again and had to settle for the runner- up spot on the Rock Park greens in Llandrindod Wells in Mid Wales yesterday.

The Vale Recreation Club star worked wonders to edge past world-ranked local hero Jason Greenslade, 21-19, then clinched his place in the final with a well-taken victory over Scottish champion Mark Kelsey by the same score.

In the final, facing Irish champion Paul Daly, Le Ber, pictured, started well enough, and was only one shot adrift at 5-6 after seven ends.

But a devastating sequence from Daly saw the Irish star pile up 12 shots without reply over the next nine ends and the match was as good as over.
