Martin and Gale called into squad

TEENAGE wicketkeeper Jason Martin has been included in the Guernsey squad to face Denmark this month.

The youngster is joined in the 16-strong group by another newcomer in all-rounder James Gale to face the Danes in back-to-back 50-over matches on 22 and 23 July in the island.

'Our goal of late has been to identify other players to come into our pool of those pushing for places and while we want to put out strong sides, it is an exciting time where we have a window to be able to look at other players without the weight of an ICC tournament just around the corner,' said Guernsey coach Andy Cornford.

'James Gale has been on our radar for a little while.

'He has performed well in the domestic cricket there has been this season and the reports I have had back are impressive.'
