Rain-dodging tournament getting set for its climax

THE Guernsey Cricket Board chief executive is breathing a sign of relief that the GPL has thus far made it through a period of wet weather relatively unscathed.

'Given the weather we've had this year it's pretty miraculous that we've managed to get to the stage we're at,' said Mark Latter, looking ahead to finals day at Port Soif on Saturday.

Last Friday's clash between BDO and Cenkos has been the only rain-affected game in the tournament so far, with play being stopped in the 13th over of the second innings with players and spectators taking shelter in the hospitality tent once the heavens opened.

The notorious 'Port Soif Doctor' has also been a notable feature of the tournament.
