HEATHER WATSON kept the fifth seed on court for two-and-a-half hours last night before eventually succumbing in three sets in the Bank of the West Classic at Stanford.
The Sarnian won the opening set of her second-round match of the WTA event against Belgian Yanina Wickmayer, before the world No. 37 fought back to win 5-7, 6-1,
6-4, although Watson showed her fighting spirit by saving three match points in game nine of the final set.
