THE Netherlands under-17s secured an overall series victory yesterday at the KGV – but they were made to work hard for it.

Having shared the two 50-overs matches with Guernsey 1-1, the concluding Twenty20 was fittingly close, but the Dutch managed to turn the screw effectively over the final few overs to claim a 15-run win.

It left Guernsey wondering what might have been had they kept wickets in hand in their chase of 130 on a decent pitch with a quick outfield.

Their reply started in a positive manner with Lucas Barker carrying on from where he left off the day before when he made 69 on the same ground.

However, having struck a couple of boundaries, the right-handed opener was skittled by left-arm spinner Daniel Doram, who not only caught the eye with of his 6ft-plus frame but also because of his substantial ability.
