HEATHER WATSON will play in the women's singles at the London Olympics.
The British No. 1 said she was 'jumping up and down with excitement when I found out' that she had been offered an ITF qualifying place for the Games following the withdrawal of Ukrainian Alona Bondarenko through a knee injury.
Watson was already in the doubles competition in which she will partner Laura Robson, but she now joins fellow Brits Anne Keothavong and Elena Baltacha in the singles.
Meanwhile, the Guernsey star has reached a new career high of number 67 in the world rankings.
