Guernsey come close to making a great escape

GUERNSEY lost out by just a single wicket in a thrilling finale to their Channel Islands clash against Jersey in the ICC European U15 Division One Championship at Port Soif.

Having been rocketing along at 81 without loss and later 102 for two chasing Guernsey's modest total of 155, it looked a near-certainty that Jersey would win it with plenty to spare.

However, a dramatic collapse and some tight home bowling took things down to the wire, as three wickets were lost with the target down to single figures.

When William Kaye fell with the score on 154 for nine, all three results were still possible, but a pull shot for two from Thomas Ward won it for his island.
