Argylls need a favour from ORs to reach semi-finals
ARGYLLS' hopes of a semi-final place in the Investec CI League hang in the balance.
ARGYLLS' hopes of a semi-final place in the Investec CI League hang in the balance.
They tied a thriller with closest rivals Walkovers at Grainville on Saturday, which leaves the GCA champions third in group B having completed their round-robin fixtures.
Both Argylls and Walkovers are on five points, but the Jersey outfit currently have the superior net run-rate with a match against unbeaten table-toppers ORs to come.
Argylls were pleased to post 246 for eight as Dom Rigby top-scored with 80 and there were also useful contributions from fellow middle-order batsmen David Hooper and skipper Tom Kimber, both making 32.
However, 96 from former Jersey player Jamie Brewster at number three meant that Walkovers were always in the hunt and with three balls remaining the scores were level when Hooper bowled Matt Hanley to salvage a result for Argylls.
