TWO solid rounds saw Kay Mapley lift two prestigious trophies as she was crowned Royal Guernsey Ladies' golf club champion on Tuesday.

Although Aimee Ponte had returned the best opening round of the competition by breaking the women's course record at L'Ancresse last week, Mapley was the leader going into the second round as the 16-year-old is in Wales competing at the British Girls' Amateur Championship.

Following on from her opening 77, she was one of only two players to break 80 in the second round as a gross 78 sealed the Canivet Cup, six strokes ahead of Di Aitchison, who matched Mapley's score for the second 18 holes.

The handicap standings for the La Jaonneuse Trophy was much closer, although the same winner prevailed.
