JERSEY proved too strong for Guernsey as they retained the Junior Challenge golfing Trophy over the weekend at L'Ancresse.
The home side can take plenty of positives from their performances in the concluding singles yesterday morning, in which they came out on top, but the damage had been done in Saturday's strong winds that made conditions extremely tough, verging on unplayable.
Generally, the visitors coped with the force seven gusts better than the hosts and that saw them hold a five-point lead overnight, which was always going to be too big a gap for Guernsey to close in the 10 singles rubbers.
A sign of things to come came in the opening foursomes with Jersey opening up a 3.5-1.5 lead by the end of the session.
