Chamberlain's last nine burst
SIXTEEN years after her only previous club championship success at La Grande Mare, Jan Chamberlain won her second title by what the record books will show as a street.
SIXTEEN years after her only previous club championship success at La Grande Mare, Jan Chamberlain won her second title by what the record books will show as a street.
The final margin was a comfortable 13 shots, but it had not looked so easy after day one out on the woodland course at Vazon and the trophy was still up for grabs with nine holes remaining.
Rosie Scott had shot a superb net 64 off her 16 handicap to be level with the former island champion and unofficial island No. 2, going into the second round when the leading contenders were joined by Helen Banks for the decisive 18 holes.
But while Banks, who had won the title fives times between 2006 and 2010 before surrendering it to Kimberley Goodall last year, slumped to a gross 90 and Scott posted 88, Chamberlain underlined her class with a 75.
