Bowditch runs out of legs

ANN BOWDITCH is in the form of her life and it very nearly brought her a brilliant win in the Jersey Evening Post Town Criteriums in St Helier.

Having blasted out for home halfway around the final lap on the tight street circuit, the Guernsey star was pipped on the line by Harriet Owen (Node4 Giordana), a Youth Commonwealth champion and scratch runner-up at the Junior World Track Championships.

'If the lap had been five yards shorter I would have won it,' Bowditch reflected afterwards.

Despite the result, she is sure she got her tactics just right.
