THE newcomers made a big impact on debut as Guernsey Rugby Club started life in the National Leagues with a win.
Jason Harvey got the ball rolling with the opening try - the first of his two - and Tom Pool also touched down as the green-and-whites ran in six in a confidence-boosting win.
However, coach Jordan Reynolds is eager for his players to keep their feet on the ground as, having looked at the opening weekend's results, he feels there are sterner examinations of his side to come in the near future.
'They were not the greatest side,' he said of hosts Staines.
'Going into the game, I said Staines will probably be near the bottom of the league and then you look through the other results and it looks like the competition is generally going to be very strong.'
