DORKING spoilt the party as the National League came to Guernsey for the first time on Saturday.

Considering the enormity of the occasion, the home side could hardly have picked a worse time to produce a performance that coach Jordan Reynolds described as 'probably the worst we have played in over two years'.

In truth, the margin of defeat could have been far greater so Guernsey should count themselves fortunate to have come away with a losing bonus point for finishing within seven of the victors.

However, it was a strangely subdued display, littered with errors, particularly missed first-up tackles, which perhaps betrayed some apprehension on Guernsey's part as they played in front of an expectant Footes Lane crowd in excess of 600.

'I have got respect for Dorking but if that's their standard they will struggle, as will we,' Reynolds said.

'I definitely reckon they are just feeling their way into the season and will improve, which is what we have to do.'
