CLUB coaches have expressed their concern at the dwindling number of top referees.

And the possibility of club linesmen being regularly utilised in this season's Priaulx League is one that is not pleasing at least two top senior local coaches.

With a shortage of registered GFA referees this season, last Saturday saw just one of four first-team matches contain its full allocation of three officials.

That was in the inter-island Jeremie Cup clash between Vale Rec and Grouville, with all three league games played needing help from the respective clubs to run the lines.

One of those was St Martin's 3-1 victory over Rangers and, with the black-and-whites expected to feature in the title shake-up come spring, their coach John Peace is worried about the dwindling numbers.
