GUERNSEY will be looking to prove their talent in the national indoor cricket cages as a new season approaches.

While the local Grant Thornton Leagues are thriving with 22 senior teams set to compete in 2012-13, the island's representative side also has big aspirations for the future.

That will start by competing in the British Open in November, a weekend-long tournament to be held in the UK, with the Sarnians being managed by star player Lee Savident, pictured.

'We want to be entering the National League at the next possible opportunity for us,' he explained.

'This tournament is a build-up to that and one that we should be targeting to win, we are certainly amongst the favourites.'
