ARGYLLS completed the double on Saturday when they were crowned the new Channel Islands cricket champions.

The reigning GCA Championship holders added the Investec CI League title with a four-wicket win over Old Victorians at the KGV thanks to another fine all-round performance.

However, the unlikely hero was Tom Magson, who produced the ideal innings to anchor what was at times a nervy run chase, carrying his bat to finish unbeaten on 65 to be deservedly rewarded with the man-of-the-match tankard.

'I know the players we have are very good players. We are a young side and we all get on really well so we have a really good core to the team,' said stand-in captain Will Peatfield who, for the second week in a row, hit the winning boundary. We knew we could do it talent-wise, but it's still all pretty surreal now that we have won it.'
