GH SMIT has capped off a fine individual season by dominating the Guernsey Cricket Board's awards dinner at St Pierre Park last night.

The Argylls and St Pierre opener, pictured, picked up four awards, including the most prestigious GCB Player of the Year, as well as best batter in both Evening League Division One and the Weekend League prize.

On top of that, he was named as one of the GCB's 'Five Cricketers of the Year 2012', the others being island team-mates Dave Hooper, James Gale, Jamie Nussbaumer and Jeremy Frith.

Smit's Argylls colleague Max Ellis topped off a season in which he won his first island cap and landed the CI Championship, with the young player award.
