GFC were the weekend's big winners, at the same time as GFA were again losers.

On the day super Ross Allen baled the Green Lions out of trouble with a five-goal haul at a nervous Footes Lane, it became apparent that the beleaguered Guernsey Football Association had lost their high-profile director of representative football James Blower, as well as their head development coach, the former island manager Steve Ogier.

Their combined losses are yet another blow to an association struggling to find enough referees to cover their fixtures and a shortage of players as more players defect to the social leagues.

Guernsey FC have no such headaches, but it needed Allen's heroics in front of goal to save their blushes after they found themselves being held deep into the second half by the CCL Premier Division's next-to-bottom side, Colliers Wood United.
