Watson gives Sharapova a fight

HEATHER WATSON lost out to world number two Maria Sharpova in a thrilling Pan Pacific Open second round match in Tokyo this morning.

After a contest that lasted more than three hours, the 20-year-old Sarnian eventually fell 6-7 (7), 6-3, 6-4 to the four-time Grand Slam winning Russian.
