GUERNSEY clubs were successful in inter-island Wheway Memorial Trophy and Le Riche Cup competitions in Jersey on Saturday.

Midfield Ben Coulter hit the only goal for St Martin's to send St Ouen to a 1-0 home defeat in the Wheway while Vale Rec. won 3-1 against First Tower at La Hague Manor where the visitors netted through Damien Larkin, Jack Tacon and Glenn Le Tissier.

In Guernsey, St Paul's ran out 7-0 winners against Rangers in the Jeremie Cup following a hat-trick by Craig Russell and two goals apiece from Jack Cannon and Jean-Paul Martyn.

In their Wheway encounter, St Ouen had the better of the early exchanges but could not find a way past St Martin's teenage goalkeeper James Hamon, who pulled off two fine saves in the opening 25 minutes.
