A win and a loss but Guernsey are the victors

TWO tight and competitive encounters saw a win apiece for Guernsey and Jersey in the inter-island 'Ledger' hockey matches held at Footes Lane.

On any other day, that would have seen each island walk away with a share of the spoils, but such are the rules written into this particular Ledger, Guernsey were winners of both matches.

The first of the day's two matches, for over-45s, saw the visiting Caesareans edge it 5-4, coming from behind after the hosts Guernsey had raced into a 3-1 half-time lead.

But the Sarnians did get their revenge in the over-35s match soon after, this time coming out on top of an even more dramatic encounter, eventually winning 6-5.
